Softball Undefeated at Speedline Invitational

TAMPA, FLA. -- The Ole Miss Rebels remained undefeated at the Speedline Invitational with a 3-1 victory over Western Michigan and a 3-2 win over Ball State in 11 innings. The Rebels have won a team record seven consecutive games and improved to 12-3 on the season.

In the first game of the day, Paige Cochran capped a three-run inning with a two-run single for the Rebels as pitcher Bobbi Wurth won her first game of the season. Wurth allowed one run on three hits and struck out one in six and one-third innings of work. Jennifer Hughes notched her second save of the season by striking out the final two batters of the game.

In game two, Heather Swinney knocked in two runs with a single in the bottom of the 11th inning to give the Rebels a 3-2 win. Amanda Fine pitched four and two-thirds innings allowing one run on four hits and four strikeouts to pick up her team-high sixth victory.

Jennifer Hughes, who started the game, pitched six and one-thirds innings giving up one run on five hits and struck out eight before being relieved by Fine in the seventh inning.

Ole Miss will take on Oklahoma State at 10 a.m. Saturday and open play in the championship bracket at 5 p.m. Saturday.
