OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss men's and women's track and field teams will host the Ole Miss Invitational on Saturday, Apr. 4 at the Ole Miss Track and Field Complex, which is located adjacent to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The invitational, which is Ole Miss' second home meet of the season, will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the field events. The running events will start at 11:30 a.m. Arkansas State, Arkansas-Little Rock, Jackson State and Memphis are a few of the schools participating in Saturday's meet.

"We are excited about hosting the Ole Miss Invitational on Saturday," said Ole Miss head coach Joe Walker. "We have several quality teams participating in this year's meet, and I am anticipating some outstanding performances.

"We still have some of our athletes who are injured, so we are not at full strength. However, we turned in some good performances last weekend at the Alabama Relays, and we are looking to continue to build on that this Saturday."

Last weekend at the Alabama Relays, sophomore Tisha Parker won the long jump and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the event. The Houston, Texas, native won the long jump with a school record mark of 21-2. The 21-2 jump broke her own school record of 20-4 1/4 which she set last year and was also only two inches short of automatically qualifying (21-4) for the NCAAs. Freshmen Emily Fontenot and Brandy Barnett also had solid showings for the Lady Rebels, as both placed in the top five in the high jump. Fontenot placed second in the high jump with a mark of 5-8 3/4, while Barnett was fourth with a jump of 5-7. Freshman Brandy Mack had a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (59.67 seconds).

Junior Marcus Jones and freshman Savante' Stringfellow continue to pace the Rebel effort during the early part of the outdoor season. Jones had two top-10 finishes at the Alabama Relays, placing third in the high jump (6-9) and seventh in the triple jump (49-6
