Arkansas State Defeats Ole Miss in Volleyball

JONESBORO, Ark. - Arkansas State avenged its five-game loss earlier in the season to Ole Miss by downing the Lady Rebels 15-9, 15-10, 15-13 in Jonesboro, Ark., Tuesday night. Arkansas State improved to 18-10, while Ole Miss dropped to 9-18.
Kira Zschau led Ole Miss with nine kills, followed by Kari Elggren with eight and Danielle Atzinger and Jaime Burns with six each. Lauren Dorcheus led the Lady Rebels in digs with 11, while Lisa Frannino added 10, Elggren nine and Zschau eight.
Arkansas State was led by Beth Cochran with 15 kills, followed by Tera Hayman with 13 and Susanna Snipes and Lindsay Miller with 11 each. Amy Vandehei and Miller led the Lady Indians in digs with 13 each, while Nicole Grimes and Amy Johnson added 10 apiece.
Ole Miss, 2-9 in Southeastern Conference matches, returns to Oxford for two matches this weekend. The Lady Rebels host LSU Friday at 7 p.m. and Arkansas Saturday at 7 p.m. LSU is 10-14 overall and 1-9 in the SEC, and Arkansas, ranked No. 14 in the USA Today/AVCA Coaches' Top 25 Poll, is 20-3 overall and 10-1 in the SEC. Ole Miss defeated LSU 3-2 in Baton Rouge on Oct. 11 and lost 3-1 at Arkansas on Oct. 9.
