Frey Advances to Consolation Final at All-American

LOS ANGELES - Celeste Frey of the Ole Miss women's tennis team advanced to the consolation singles final at the Riviera All-American Championships Saturday by knocking off two top 20 nationally-ranked players at the Riviera Country Club.
In the second round, Frey upset the No. 2 ranked player in the nation, Marissa Catlin of Georgia, 6-4, 6-1 and then defeated 17th-ranked Michelle Dasso of Notre Dame 6-3, 7-6(3) in the semifinals. She will face 14th-ranked Anousjka Van Exel of Tulsa in the final Sunday.
After losing in the first round of the main draw, Frey has won three matches over three players in the top 30 in straight sets. In the first round of consolation she beat Kristen Sanderson of Duke, who is ranked 27th in the nation.
Frey has defeated seven nationally-ranked players this year including four in the top 30, and is currently 15-5 on the season.
