Lady Rebel Netters Down 12th-Ranked Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The 14th-ranked Ole Miss women's tennis team downed 12th-ranked Tennessee 5-1 Saturday afternoon at the UT Varsity Courts. The Lady Rebels improve to 14-4 overall, 6-2 in the SEC.

The Lady Rebels won five of the six singles matches. The doubles matches were not contested. Senior Agnes Muzamel ended her two-match skid with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Agnes Wiski at No. 1 singles. Muzamel needs seven more wins to become the all-time career leader at Ole Miss.

Celeste Frey downed Alison Ojeda 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 singles, and Ivona Mihailova cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 win against Dana Noel at No. 3 singles. With the win, Mihailova becomes the fourth Lady Rebel to win 20 matches this year.

Mariana Eberle defeated Candy Reid 6-2, 7-5 at No. 5 singles and Alesya Ignatieva beat Meiling Parks 7-5, 6-1 at No. 6 singles. The only loss on the day came at No. 4 singles, where Tennessee's Emily Woodside held off Courtenay Chapman 7-5, 6-4.

The Lady Rebels return to action Friday April 9, as they travel to Columbia, S.C. to take on the 16th-ranked Lady Gamecocks of South Carolina.
