Lady Rebel Netters Make SEC Academic Honor Roll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Four members of the Ole Miss women's tennis team were among 48 student-athletes named to the 1999 SEC Women's Tennis Academic Honor Roll Tuesday.

Courtenay Chapman made the honor roll with a 4.0 grade point average in Broadcast Journalism. She is one of only three student-athletes on the honor roll to have a 4.0 GPA along with her teammate Irena Mihailova, who boasts a perfect GPA in Accounting. Mihailova has had a 4.0 every semester of her career. Julie Charvat holds a 3.93 in Electrical Engineering and Ivona Mihailova owns a 3.70 in International Business.

Chapman is a three-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll, while Ivona and Irena are two-time members. Charvat made the honor roll in her first year to be eligible.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must have a 3.0 grade point average for either the past year or a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher for her career; be a sophomore or higher in terms of academic classification; and have 24 semester or 36 quarter hours toward a degree.

The Lady Rebels are the third seed in the upcoming SEC Championships which begin on Thursday in Baton Rouge, La. Ole Miss will face the winner of the Kentucky/Auburn match on Friday at 2:00 p.m.
