Lady Rebel Netters Victorious at Memphis Invitational

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Four members of the Ole Miss women's tennis team won their opening round matches at the University of Memphis Varsity Tennis Shop Invitational Friday.

In Flight 1 singles, freshman Eva Doman defeated Courtney Hague of Saint Louis University 6-2, 7-5. She will face Maria Widyadharma of Central Florida in the second round Saturday.

The tournament consists of seven flights of singles and four flights of doubles. In Flight 2 singles, junior Irena Mihailova downed Blena Delucca of Tennessee Tech 6-3, 6-2 and Flight 3 singles, freshman Aleysa Ignatieva dominated Arkansas State's Belinda Gutherie 6-2, 6-2.

Freshman Camilla Gould won her match against Meredith Watson of Stephen F. Austin, 6-3, 6-2 in Flight 4 singles, and sophomore Julie Charvat cruised to an easy 6-0, 6-2 win over Gina Katona of Murray State in Flight 6 singles.

"I was very impressed with Julie Charvat," Lady Rebel assistant coach Kevin Cory said. "She was overpowering and controlled the match. I am also proud of the rest of the girls. They were dominant and had easy straight set matches."

They will play two rounds of singles Saturday with the matches beginning at 9:00 a.m.
