Lady Rebels Close Out Softball Season

OXFORD, Miss.- The Ole Miss softball team will finish the 1999 season with two doubleheaders against the Arkansas Razorbacks in Fayetteville this weekend.

The Rebels (25-32, 7-19) take on Arkansas (38-27, 13-13) in game one of the first double-header on Friday at 5 p.m. Game one of the second twin-bill is slated for a 1 p.m. start on Saturday.

The Razorbacks own a 6-2 series advantage over the Rebels, with Ole Miss winning two games last year in Oxford. The average margin of victory in the eight game series is two runs, with five games decided by one run.

Junior Heather Swinney has paced the Rebels' attack with a .333 batting average and 10 doubles in the last 20 games. Swinney leads the Rebels with 14 doubles this season, followed by juniors Kaci Coffee with 13 and Mandy Shklar with 10. The trio has combined for 37 of the Rebels 58 doubles this season.
