Lady Rebels Ninth in Early Rankings

OXFORD, Miss. The Ole Miss women's tennis team is ranked No. 9 in the first team ranking of the spring, while senior Agnes Muzamel remained at No. 4 in singles in the latest ITA collegiate rankings, released Tuesday.

Florida is atop the rankings, followed by Duke, Georgia, Stanford, Texas, William & Mary, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, and UCLA rounding out the top 10. Other SEC schools in the top 25 include South Carolina (21st), Arkansas (17th), Kentucky (18th) and Tennessee (20th).

Muzamel is 15-6 overall, 6-2 at the No. 1 position. She has been ranked in the top 10 all year. Celeste Frey is ranked No. 18 in the nation with a 25-10 overall record, 7-2 in dual matches. Ivona Mihailova dropped to No. 28, despite having won 11 in a row. She has a 14-3 overall record.

In doubles, Frey and Mariana Eberle moved up one spot to No. 8 with a 21-7 record. Muzamel and Courtenay Chapman fell to No. 13 with a14-7 record.

The Lady Rebels play No. 3 Georgia Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Athens, Ga.
