AUSTIN, Texas - Martin Sjoqvist and Vikrant Chada of the Ole Miss men's tennis team both lost their first round matches at the ITA All-American Championships Thursday at the Pennick Allison Tennis Center.
Sjoqvist, ranked No. 25 in the nation, fell in straight sets to Ignacio Hirigoyen of SMU, 6 4, 6-2. Chada, ranked 44th in the country, battled 63rd-ranked Efe Ustundag of Rice to three sets before losing, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.
There will be a consolation round starting Friday. The draw was scheduled to be done late Thursday evening after the completion of first-round singles.
The All-American Championships is the second leg of the collegiate grand slam.
