No. 10 South Carolina Sweeps Ole Miss In Softball

OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss Rebels fell to 19-16 overall and 3-5 in the Southeastern Conference after losing both games of a double-header to the 10th-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks (31-8, 5-2) Saturday afternoon.
Ole Miss has now lost its last four games and fell to 0-7 all-time versus the Gamecocks.
The Rebels trailed 5-0 heading into the sixth inning in game one before rallying for four runs and trailed 5-4 going into the seventh. South Carolina's Adriene Genovese belted her first career home run to give the Gamecocks a 6-4 lead in the seventh. Ole Miss managed one run in the bottom of the seventh, but the Gamecocks fought off the Rebels and held on for a 6-5 win.
In game two, South Carolina scored four runs in the first en route to an 11-2 victory over the Rebels. The Gamecocks added six runs in the fifth inning and finished with 11 hits for the game. The two teams combined for 13 runs in the game, but only four earned runs as Ole Miss committed four errors and South Carolina three.
Next up, the Ole Miss Rebels travel to Baton Rouge, La., for two double-headers against No. 11 LSU. Game one on Friday, April 2, will begin at 5 p.m. and game two at 7 p.m. The second double-header will be on Saturday, April, 3, with game one at 1 p.m. and game two at 3 p.m.
