Ole Miss' Bernie Kuria Places Fourth In 10,000 Meters

ATHENS, Ga. - Rebel senior Bernie Kuria placed fourth in the 10,000 meters to pace the Ole Miss effort in second-day action at the Southeastern Conference Track and Field Championships on Friday. The SEC Championships are being held at the University of Georgia.

Kuria placed fourth with a time of 30:41.77, and scored the Rebels' first points of the conference championship meet.

In preliminaries held on Friday, Teneeshia Jones placed sixth in the 200 meters (23.44 seconds), Chika Chuku was sixth in the 800 meters (2:07.99), and Brandy Mack finished third in the 400-meter hurdles (58.36 seconds). With their top-eight finishes, all three Lady Rebels advanced to their event finals on Sunday.

On the men's side, Wayne Woollery was the only Rebel to advance to an event final on Sunday. Woollery was fifth in the 400-meter hurdles preliminaries with a time of 51.37 seconds. The time was Woollery's best of the season. Willie Moore just missed advancing to the 200 meters final, placing ninth with a time of 21.07 seconds. In the 800 meters preliminaries, Larry Henderson placed 13th (1:53.43) and Tyler Simon was 15th (1:53.73).

The SEC Championships continue on Saturday.
