OXFORD, Miss. - The Auburn Tigers rallied from a 6-4 deficit in the seventh inning to win game one 7-6 and carried the momentum to a 5-0 victory in game two over the Ole Miss softball team Friday night.

With the loss the Rebels drop to 25-26 overall and 7-14 in the Southeastern Conference, while the Tigers improved to 24-25-1 and 8-12.

The Rebels, who entered with a one game lead over Auburn for the eighth and final spot for the SEC Tournament, now trail the Tigers by one game. In game one, the Rebels jumped out to a 5-2 lead with a three-run fifth inning. Korrie Kashuba drove in two runs for the Rebels in the inning with a two-out single. Kaci Coffee also drove in a run on a fielder's choice.

Ole Miss added another run in the sixth to go ahead 6-4 on Rachel Davenport's RBI double. But, with two out in the top of the seventh Ashley Moore hit a two-run homer for the Tigers to tie the game at 6-6. In the top of the eighth inning Marcella Passarelli doubled in Jen Kraemer to give the Tigers a 7-6 lead. Auburn pitcher Nicole Groves put the Rebels down in order in the bottom of the eighth to seal the win.

In game two, the Tigers pounded out 10 hits and scored three runs off Rebel errors en route to a 5-0 victory. Tiger pitcher Nicole Groves retired 15 consecutive Ole Miss hitters during a five inning stretch before giving up three hits in the sixth inning.

Ole Miss wasted its best scoring opportunity in the sixth after Davenport reached on a fielder's choice and Coffee and Heather Swinney each singled. Groves struck out the Rebels' Allison Willrath to strand the bases loaded.

The two teams meet again in another double-header on Saturday at the Ole Miss Softball Complex. Game one begins at 1 p.m. and game two at 3 p.m.
