Ole Miss Softball Splits Doublehader with No. 11 LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. - The Ole Miss softball squad split a doubleheader with 11th-ranked LSU in Southeastern Conference action on Friday night.

The Rebels (20-17, 4-6 SEC) won the first game, 2-1, as starter Jennifer Hughes scattered six hits in picking up her eighth win of the season. Ole Miss scored its two runs in the second inning, as Heather Swinney scored on an error and Korrie Kashuba crossed the plate on a Stephanie Vaglica single.

The Tigers (26-6, 7-1 SEC) rebounded to win the second game, 2-0. Ashley Lewis recorded a season-high 10 strikeouts in her 13th victory on the mound. Ole Miss was held to three hits in game two.

The series concludes with a doubleheader on Saturday, with game one slated for a 1:00 p.m. start and game two at 3:00 p.m.
