Ole Miss Volleyball Team Drops Matches to Alabama and Auburn

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama defeated the Ole Miss volleyball team 15-12, 7-15, 15-5, 15-8 in Southeastern Conference volleyball action Sunday. Ole Miss dropped to 9-17 overall and 2-9 in the SEC, while Alabama improved to 13-13 and 2-9.

Kari Elggren led Ole Miss with 15 kills and 16 digs, followed by Anna Hackbarth with 13 kills and Lauren Dorcheus with eight. Lisa Frannino led the Lady Rebels in digs with 19, while Danielle Atzinger and Dorcheus added 14 digs each and Jaime Burns chipped in 13. Hackbarth led the team in blocking with five total blocks.

Alabama was led by Monica Davis with 15 kills and 20 digs, followed by Michelle Green with 13 kills and 14 digs and Monica Morales with 12 kills. Allison Lange added 15 digs.

In SEC action Friday night, Ole Miss lost at Auburn 15-2, 15-6, 16-14 as Jaunelle Hamilton led the Tigers with 21 kills and 10 digs. Ole Miss was led by Elggren with 13 kills and Burns with 11 digs.

"We didn't play very well this weekend," Ole Miss head coach John Blair said. "There's not a lot a lot of positives to talk about. We're just looking forward to playing Arkansas State and getting back home for two matches this weekend."

Ole Miss travels to Arkansas State on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. match. The Lady Rebels host LSU Friday at 7 p.m. and Arkansas Saturday at 7 p.m.
