Ole Miss Volleyball Team to Host Arkansas State

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss volleyball team will host Arkansas State Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Women's Multi-Sport Complex.

The Lady Rebels, 3-4 overall, are coming off a 1-2 weekend at the Bristol Hotels-Resorts SMU Invitational. Ole Miss downed Northwestern State in three games but lost a four-game match to Liberty and a five-game marathon to SMU.

The Lady Rebels are led by junior Kari Elggren of Sandy, Utah, and freshman Jaime Burns of Englewood, Colo., who were named to the All-Tournament team at SMU. Elggren is first on the team in kills with 87, fifth in digs with 54, and fifth in blocking with 13 total blocks. Elggren notched 20 kills and 14 digs in the SMU match.

Burns is second on the team with 69 kills and 65 digs and has also served nine aces this year, which is third on the team. Burns recorded 11 kills and 25 digs against Liberty and 16 kills and 12 digs against SMU.

Lauren Dorcheus, a junior from Houston, Texas, leads the Lady Rebels in blocks with 29. Danielle Atzinger, a senior from Louisville, Ky., leads the team in digs with 75.

Arkansas State, 4-3 overall, won its first four matches of the year but has lost three straight. The Lady Indians are led by junior Beth Cochran with 100 kills and a .329 hitting percentage, followed by senior Lindsay Miller with 93 kills and 85 digs. Senior Tera Hayman has recorded seven block solos and 27 block assists to lead the team with 34 total blocks.
