Jan. 25, 1998

BATON ROUGE, La. Sophomore Tisha Parker and freshman Emily Fontenot both set Ole Miss school records at the LSU Seven Team Invitational Saturday evening at the LSU Field House in Baton Rouge, La.

Parker broke the Ole Miss indoor long jump record with a leap of 19-8.25 to eclipse Charlotte Ashe's 1990 mark of 19-5.5. Parker, who already owned three Lady Rebel indoor and outdoor marks including the outdoor long jump, finished in third-place. She also placed fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 38-9.75.

Fontenot broke the women's indoor high jump record with a leap of 5-8 to finish in second. Fontenot's mark of 5-8 bettered Natasha Poularikas' 1992 record by three-quarters of a inch.

Sophomore distance runner Larry Henderson was Ole Miss' only event winner of the evening as he won the 3,000 meters with a personal best time of 8:27.16. It was the third victory of the year for Henderson who won the mile last week at Southern Illinois and also won the 3,000 meters at Arkansas State back on Dec. 4.

Ole Miss will return next Saturday when the Rebels and Lady Rebels travel to Gainesville, Fla. for the ACC-SEC Challenge.
