Parker Qualifies for NCAA Championships

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Ole Miss sophomore Tisha Parker won the long jump and also provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in the event in day three action at the Alabama Relays on Saturday. On the men's side, senior Sylvester Houston had the best performance for the Rebels with a third-place finish in the pole vault.
Parker won the long jump with a school-record mark of 21-2, breaking her own previous school record of 20-4 1/4 which she set last year as a freshman. The Houston, Texas, native also provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships, just missing the automatic qualifying mark by two inches (21-4). Other top finishers for the Lady Rebels were Emily Fontenot who placed second in the high jump (5-8 3/4), Brandy Barnett who finished fourth in the high jump (5-7) and Brandy Mack who placed fifth in the 400-meter hurdles (59.67 seconds).
Houston finished third in the pole vault with a mark of 15-9, while Kyle Wallace was fourth in the event at 15-1. Freshman Savante' Stringfellow placed fifth in the long jump (24-0 1/4), and Wayne Woolery was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (52.50).
The Alabama Relays will conclude on Sunday with all relay events taking place.
