Rebel Football Team Making Progress as the Season Draws Closer

OXFORD, Miss. - In two days since Friday's scrimmage, Ole Miss head football coach Tommy Tuberville is seeing some progress by the Rebel squad, but also says that there is room for improvement before the season opener versus Memphis on Sept. 5.

"We've had some hard practices, and we're getting better," said Tuberville. "We're still working on a lot of individual technique drills. We're working on finding a two-deep, and we are searching for a couple of guys who could help us this year."

On Sunday, the Rebels worked out in the heat of the afternoon, and Tuberville realizes the importance of that as Ole Miss' first three games of the season will be played during the day.

"We've finally had some hot weather, and we're going to need that because most of our early games are going to be played in the heat of the day," said Tuberville. "We switched around a lot of our practice today to go through more team drills during the heat in the afternoon instead of waiting until later when it cools off."

The Rebels will not work out on Monday, but will return to practice fields on Tuesday afternoon.
