OXFORD, Miss. -- Coach David Cutcliffe sent his Ole Miss Rebels through a 90-minute scrimmage here Friday in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium and came away pleased with the way his team responded to having Southeastern Conference officials working the session.

"We must discipline ourselves from a penalty standpoint in a big way," Cutcliffe said following the scrimmage. "We can't stop ourselves as often as we did today on both sides of the ball. I really thought our SEC officiating crew did a good job and got the attention of our team. That was real positive from that stand point."

Big plays on both sides of the ball highlighted the scrimmage, which Cutcliffe said was designed to be up tempo.

"We wanted to go high tempo with this scrimmage and get in a lot of plays," he said. "We also wanted to correct our mistakes from day to day. Our pass protection was better with our number one unit. Our ball security wasn't what it needed to be. We're still looking to be 100 percent secure with the football."

Quarterback David Morris completed eight of 16 passes for 75 yards and had touchdown strikes of 21 yards to Toward Sanford and 14 yards to Ronnie Letson. Running back Deuce McAllister had 82 yards rushing on 10 carries as he scored on TD runs of 25 and three yards. Chico Chandler picked up 68 yards on 12 carries. Quarterback Romaro Miller and Sanford each scored on three yard runs.

Defensively, Syniker Taylor picked off his third interception of the spring, returning it 23 yards, while Comone Fisher returned a fumble 65 yards for a touchdown.

Anthony Sims recovered a fumble and Armegis Spearman, Chad Cook, and Walker Hunsicker had quarterback sacks.

In the kicking game, junior college transfer Les Binkley and Phil Lucchese each made one of two field goal attempts. Binkley connected from 40 yards out and Lucchese was good from 23.

Ole Miss has three days of spring drills remaining, including the April 17 Red-Blue Game.
