OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss softball team completed its first action of the season by advancing to the quarterfinals of the Texas-Arlington Pepsi Classic this weekend in Arlington, Texas.

The Rebels (3-2) dropped the opening game to the 11th-ranked Oklahoma Sooners 13-3, but bounced back to defeat Stephen F. Austin 8-6, Northeast Louisiana 3-2 and Texas Tech 2-0 before losing to Tulsa 10-0 in Saturday's quarterfinals.

Junior Amanda Fine (1-1) took the loss against the Sooners pitching four innings and giving up eight runs on eight hits, but rebounded to throw a three-hit shutout against Texas Tech. Fine struck out four against the Red Raiders and had a perfect game through five innings before giving up a lead-off single in the sixth.

Senior Kari Ceriani (1-0) picker up her first win of the season for the Rebels pitching five innings and giving up three runs on seven hits in the victory over Stephen F. Austin.

Ole Miss' Jessica Hamilton hit a two-run single in the top of the seventh as the Rebels rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat N.E. Louisiana. Starting pitcher Jennifer Hughes (1-0) pitched six innings and allowed three runs on eight hits for the Rebels.

Tulsa put up six runs in the first inning off Rebels' starter Bobbi Wurth (0-1) who was relieved by Fine in the second inning. The Golden Hurricanes added a run in the second and three more in the fourth to lead 10-0 heading into the fifth inning. Ole Miss was unable to score in the fifth and the game was called as the eight-run mercy rule was in effect.

The Rebels return to action Saturday, Feb. 20, in the home opener with a double-header against Belmont beginning at 2 p.m.
