Softball Defeats No. 23 Iowa

TAMPA, FLA. - The Ole Miss Rebels won their eighth consecutive game and advanced to the semifinals of the Speedline Invitational with a 1-0 victory over the No. 23 Iowa Hawkeyes Saturday night.
Ole Miss improved to 14-3 with the victory and will face the winner of the South Florida-South Carolina game at noon on Sunday for the right to advance to the Speedline championship game which will also be on Sunday at 2 p.m.
The win also marked the second win over a top 25 team for the Rebels at the Speedline Invitational. Ole Miss defeated 11th-ranked South Florida 2-1 on Thursday.
Against the Hawkeyes, first baseman Korrie Kashuba drove in the game's only run with a single in the bottom of the sixth inning and Amanda Fine (7-2) gave up two hits in seven innings of work to pick up the win.
Ole Miss also defeated Oklahoma State 5-4 in the first game of the day. The Rebels overcame a 4-2 deficit in the top of the seventh inning, scoring two runs on two wild pitches and one run on an error, to notch the comeback win. Heather Swinney hit her second home run of the season for the Rebels in the top of the second inning and Jennifer Hughes picked up the win to improve to 3-0 for the season.
