Softball Drops Double-Header to Georgia

OXFORD -- The Georgia Bulldogs pounded out 22 hits en route to sweeping a double-header from the Ole Miss Rebels Friday night.
In game one, the Bulldogs put up three runs in the fifth inning and two runs in the sixth to seal a 6-1 victory. Stephanie Halminski and Jen Bell each drove in two runs for the Bulldogs and starter Natalie Price held Ole Miss to one run on six hits in picking up the victory. Amanda Fine pitched four and two-thirds innings for the Rebels in the loss and dropped to 8-6 on the season.
In the second game, the Bulldogs held off an Ole Miss rally in the bottom of the 10th inning to preserve a 4-3 win. Price pitched four and two-thirds innings of relief to notch her second win of the series and improved to 15-5 for the year. Jennifer Hughes went the distance for Ole Miss, giving up four runs on 10 hits and striking out six. Hughes' record dropped to 7-4.
The Rebels return to action with a double-header on Saturday, March 27, against No. 10 South Carolina. The first game of the double-header will begin at noon and the second game at 2 p.m.
