Softball Drops Two at FSU Invitational

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Ole Miss Rebels fell 1-0 to Virginia in the first game of the Florida State Invitational and 5-2 to No. 3 Fresno State in the second game.

The Rebels dropped to 15-9 overall and will take on Miami, Ohio on Saturday at 9 a.m.

In the first game of the day, Ole Miss pitcher Jennifer Hughes gave up a run scoring single in the top of the sixth inning for the game=s only run. The Rebels managed six hits and stranded runners on second and third in the seventh inning in dropping the one-run decision. In game two, third-ranked Fresno State rallied for four runs in the top of the seventh to overcome a 2-1 deficit and pullout a 5-2 victory. Ole Miss= Amanda Fine held the Bulldogs to one run on three hits through six innings, but gave up five hits in the seventh including a two-run double that gave Fresno State the lead.

The Rebel=s Rachel Davenport knocked in two runs with a double in the bottom of the fourth inning to give Ole Miss a 2-1 lead after Fresno State went ahead 1-0 in the top of the first.
