Softball Signs Pair of Recruits

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss softball team has signed Lindsay Price of Jackson, Miss. and Amanda Lehotak of Omaha, Neb., announced Rebel head coach Candi Letts Tuesday.
"We are excited about adding two talented athletes to our program," said Letts. "We have taken two big steps in the right direction. These two players have the potential to come and contribute immediately to our team." Price, a pitcher from Hillcrest Christian School, posted a 63-4 record during her four-year career. She contributed a .462 batting average, a 29-2 record and a .712 ERA en route to leading her team to a South-State Championship and an AAA-AAAA State runner-up finish in 1998.
It was the fourth consecutive South-State Championship for Hillcrest Christian. Price was also a member of two overall state championship teams from 1995-96. "We are extremely pleased to have Lindsay as a member of the Ole Miss softball team," said Letts. "She is one of the most talented pitchers to ever come out of the state of Mississippi and she will add a lot of depth to our pitching staff."
Lehotak, a shortstop for Gross High, is expected to contribute both in the infield and outfield for the Rebels. She is Nebraska's career-hits leader, belting out 232 hits in her high school career. She also holds state records for runs scored in a season (57), hits in a season (93), hitting streak (35 games), career-runs, batting average in a season (.575) and career batting average (.485).
"Amanda will add athleticsm and a tremendous work ethic to our program," said Letts. " She has the determination to be the best by giving 100 percent all the time. She is the kind of player every coach wants because she has such a strong desire to be great."
Ole Miss will begin its 1999 season Feb. 12 at the University of Texas-Arlington Softball Classic.
