Softball Sweeps Double-Header against Mississippi State

OXFORD, Miss. - The Rebels' Mandy Shklar and Kaci Coffee drove in three runs apiece as Ole Miss swept Mississippi State in a softball double-header Friday evening.

Ole Miss improved to 18-11 overall and 2-0 in the Southeastern Conference, while State dropped to 15-12 and 0-2.

In game one, Shklar hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at 4-4 and Kara Chapman drove in the game winning run with a two-out single in the bottom of the 11th inning to give Ole Miss a 5-4 victory.

In game two, Coffee hit a two-run double and drove in another on a fielder's choice in leading Ole Miss to a 4-1 win over the Bulldogs.

Jennifer Hughes pitched three scoreless innings to pick up the win in game one and pitched a complete game to win game two of the double-header. Hughes improved to 6-3 on the season.

The Rebels complete the series against Mississippi State with a double-header on Saturday at the Ole Miss Softball Complex. First pitch is scheduled for noon. The game can be heard locally on WQLJ (93.7 FM), with pre-game beginning at 11:45 a.m.
