Three Rebel Netters Advance to Second Round

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Three members of the Ole Miss men's tennis team advanced to the second round in singles at the SEC Indoor Championships, Friday. The tournament is being hosted by Vanderbilt University at Currey Tennis Center.
James Shortall, seeded No. 13 in the 64-player draw, cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Mason Greene of Mississippi State. He will meet Ed Rubin of LSU in the second round Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
Anders Stenman downed Tomasz Wayrzyniak of South Carolina 6-2, 6-2. He will face Georgia's Chad Carlson Saturday at 8:00 a.m. Freshman Martin Selin defeated Jesse Smatt of LSU 6-4, 6-3. Selin will meet Andrew Nisker of Vanderbilt in the second round at 8:00 a.m.
Junior Martin Sjoqvist, who was seeded 16th, lost his first round match to Dan Kiernan of LSU, 6-2, 6-2. Freshman Bo Petro of Madison, fell to the No. 2 seed Hisham Hemeda (Georgia) 6-2, 6-1, and Ben Cousins took Alabma's Waylu Chang to three sets, before losing 4-6, 7-5, 6-4.
There will be one round of singles tomorrow and two rounds of doubles. Ole Miss has three teams in the doubles field - Bo Petro and Ben Cousins, Shortall and Sjoqvist, and Selin and Stenman.
