Volleyball Announces Signing of Lansden

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss volleyball head coach John Blair announced on Tuesday the signing of middle blocker/outside hitter Sarah Lansden of Kingwood, Texas, to attend the University of Mississippi beginning in the fall of 1999.
"I think Sarah brings a good understanding of the game of volleyball with her," Blair said. "She also brings a consistent game with her. She has the ability to play several different positions, which will be valuable to our program. We are glad she's coming here, and she is very excited about joining our program."
At Kingwood High School, Lansden was named the team's Most Valuable Player in 1998 and was also named the Most Valuable Player in District 22-5A in 1998. She earned Kingwood team awards for most kills with 376 and for most blocks with 292. Lansden served as the captain of the varsity team and captured MVP honors at the Kingwood tournament. She was named to the All-Tournament team at the Pearland tournament.
During the 1998 season, Lansden was named the Houston Chronicle Athlete of the Week. She was also named to the Houston Chronicle All Greater Houston First Team and to the Texas All-State Academic Team.
Lansden was named First Team All-District in 1997 and Second Team All-District in 1996 for Kingwood. Lansden was a member of the district champion and regional quarterfinal teams in 1997 and 1998. In 1996, Kingwood finished runner-up in the state championships.
In club volleyball, Lansden participated in the Junior Olympics Open from 1995 to 1998. In the 1997 Junior Olympics, her team placed 10th in the 16 Open, and in 1995 she was named to the All-Tournament Power League.
Lansden, the daughter of Dianne and Mitchell Lansden, is also a member of the National Honor Society and the First Presbyterian youth group.
