PRINCETON, N.J. - The Ole Miss women's tennis team moved up six spots to No. 8 in the latest edition of the ITA Collegiate Rankings released Tuesday, while senior Agnes Muzamel claimed the No. 4 spot in singles. The latest rankings are based on results through March 29.

The Lady Rebels, 14-4 overall and 6-2 in the SEC, moved up from their last ranking of 14th back into the top 10 where they have spent the past four seasons. Of their four losses, three have come against the top two teams in the country, Florida and Georgia (twice).

"I am very pleased with our being ranked No. 8 nationally, moving up from No. 14," head coach Jerry Montgomery said. "We've had three wins over teams ranked in the top 12 in the last 10 days and we've settled into a good rythym of practicing, traveling, competing and studying. This No. 8 ranking gives a lot of incentive to keep it up."

Florida remained at No. 1 followed by Georgia, Duke, UCLA, Stanford, Pepperdine, California, Ole Miss, William & Mary and Tennessee. Eight teams from the SEC are ranked among the top 20 in the nation, with four in the top 10.

In singles, Muzamel moved up one spot to No. 4 in the latest rankings. The senior from Budapest, Hungary, has been among the top five all spring. She is currently 21-9 overall, 12-5 at No. 1 singles and needs seven wins to become the all-time career singles leader at Ole Miss.

Celeste Frey is ranked No. 14 with a 31-13 overall record, 11-4 at No. 2 singles, while Ivona Mihailova dropped to No. 27. Mihailova is 20-6 overall and 14-1 at No. 3 singles. Senior Courtenay Chapman fell to No. 92 in the rankings.

In doubles, Frey and Mariana Eberle held the No. 9 spot with a 25-9 record, while Muzamel and Chapman stayed at No. 16 with a 17-9 record.

The Lady Rebels travel to Columbia, S.C. this Friday to take on the Lady Gamecocks in a 2:00 p.m. match.
