BALTIMORE, Md. - Agnes Muzamel and Ivona Mihailova of the Ole Miss women's tennis team advanced to the quarterfinals at the T. Rowe Price National Clay Court Championships Friday at the Suburban Country Club. Rain delayed most of the matches for the day and pushed the quarterfinal round back to Saturday.

Muzamel, seeded No. 4 in the tournament, downed Vanessa Castellano of Georgia 6-2, 6- 3 in the second round to reach the quarterfinals. She has now made the quarterfinals in seven of nine grand slam appearances during her career. Muzamel will face Michelle Dasso of Notre Dame at 8:30 a.m., Saturday. She is looking for her first grand slam title after reaching the finals at last year's clay courts and the finals of the All-American Championships in 1996. With her win on Thursday, Muzamel notched her eighth career clay court victory moving her to fifth on the all-time list.

Mihailova, seeded seventh, didn't win a game in the first set against Georgia's Aarthi Venkatesan, but rallied to win the second and third sets for a 0-6, 7-5, 6-3 victory. She will meet top-seeded Mirela Vladulescu of UAB, who beat Muzamel in the final of last year's tournament.

Ole Miss had the most players in the 32-player main draw with three, after Celeste Frey was a lucky loser from the qualifying round, and is the only school to have two players remaining in singles.

Due to the rain delays on Friday, both the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds of women's singles will be played on Saturday.
