Women's Volleyball Drops SEC Opener to Georgia

OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss volleyball team lost its SEC opener to Georgia in a 12-15, 15-13, 15-3, 15-9 match Friday at the Women's Multi-Sport Complex on the Ole Miss campus. The Lady Rebels dropped to 6-7 overall and 0-1 in the SEC, while Georgia improved to 3-7 and 1-0 in the SEC.
Kari Elggren led Ole Miss with 21 kills, followed by Lauren Dorcheus and Jaime Burns with 10 kills each. Danielle Atzinger led the Lady Rebels in digs with 12, and Anna Hackbarth added 10.
Georgia was led by Stacy Beurger and Kathy Vis with 16 kills apiece, followed by Rebecca Dady with 14 kills and Cassie Brill with 13. Dady recorded 13 digs for the Bulldogs.
Ole Miss returns to action Sunday at 1 p.m. when the Lady Rebels host South Carolina. The Gamecocks are 12-1 overall, 1-0 in the SEC and are ranked third in the NCAA District IV poll. USC is coming off a 3-1 win over Mississippi State Friday.
