Women's Volleyball to Participate in SMU Tournament

OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss Lady Rebel volleyball team travels to Dallas, Texas, this weekend to participate in the SMU Tournament along with Liberty and Northwestern State.
Ole Miss takes on Northwestern State at 4:30 p.m. Friday. On Saturday, the Lady Rebels play Liberty at 10:00 a.m. and SMU at 5:30 p.m.
The Lady Rebels, 2-2 overall, are coming off a second-place finish at the Ole Miss Invitational last weekend. Ole Miss defeated Florida A&M and Jacksonville State before losing to Rhode Island in the championship match.
Junior Kari Elggren of Sandy, Utah, leads the Lady Rebels with 45 kills and an average of three kills per game. Freshman Jaime Burns of Englewood, Colo., is second on the team in kills with 39 and an average of 2.6 kills per game.
Danielle Atzinger, a senior from Louisville, Ky., leads the team in digs with 42, followed by juniors Lauren Dorcheus of Houston, Texas, and Lisa Frannino of Metairie, La., with 32 each.
SMU, 3-1 overall, is led by Melissa Godwin with 60 kills and a .295 hitting percentage. The Mustangs won two matches at the Bobcat Classic last weekend but lost to Southwest Texas State in their final match of the tournament.
Liberty is 1-3 on the year after losing all three matches at the Patriot Invitational last weekend. Kyrie Dorn leads the Flames with 63 kills and 58 digs.
Northwestern State lost three straight matches to open the season but picked up two wins at the North Texas Classic last weekend. The Demons, 2-3, are led by Kandice Washington with 31 kills.
