OXFORD, Miss. -- Following Thursday evening's scrimmage, the Ole Miss football team went through a two-hour, non-contact workout, dressed in shorts and shoulder pads as the Rebels continue to gear-up for next Saturday's opener at Memphis.

Ole Miss Chancellor Dr. Robert C. Khayat also visited and addressed the team prior to Friday's workout.

"It was great to see the Chancellor here," said first-year head coach David Cutcliffe. "I think our players realize how supportive he is of the program and they're glad to see him out here. He wished the us good luck for the season and I know the team appreciates him taking time out of his busy schedule to come out here."

Cutcliffe was pleased with Friday's practice as the Rebels worked on correcting mistakes made in Thursday's practice, as well as implementing their game-plan for next Saturday's season- opener.

"After having as many scrimmage snaps as we have over the last three days, we decided to take the pads off," Cutcliffe said. "I thought it had a real positive effect. We moved around well, and we got a lot done on both sides of the ball. We got a lot of our game plan in on both sides and you can tell its getting a little closer to a ball game."

The Rebels will work out Saturday morning before taking Sunday off. Ole Miss will then resume practice on Monday.

Cutcliffe also announced Friday that all in-season football practices will be closed to the general public. However, Ole Miss lettermen and people recommended by a current coaching staff member will be admitted to practice.
