Ole Miss Volleyball Opens With Tennessee-Martin

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss volleyball team will open up the 1999 season against Tennessee-Martin today at 7 p.m. at the Women's Sports Complex.
The Lady Rebels return nine players including four seniors, middle blocker Lauren Dorcheus, setter Lisa Frannino, and opposite players Korrie Kashuba and Rebecca Rider, who will be expected to lead the team. As the team captain, Dorcheus, led the team in all blocking catagories last season and is expected to have a repeat performance. She has become one of the most consistant blockers in school history.
Frannino has led the Lady Rebels in assists the past three seasons. She should break the Ole Miss career record for assists early this season and is one of the premier setters in the conference.
The Lady Rebels and 14th year head coach John Blair look to rebound after a disappointing 1998 season, going 9-23, 2-14 in the SEC. Having outstanding players at every position will allow the Lady Rebels more freedom to try different strategies on the court.
Tennessee-Martin finished the season 15-15, 8-10 in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Skyhawks defeated the Lady Rebels, 3-0, in the season opener last year.
Immediately following the game, Ole Miss will travel to Colorado Springs, Co. for the Air Force Academy Invitational to take on the Falcons, Eastern Illinois and Fordham, before returning home for the Ole Miss Invitational Sept. 10 and 11.
