VANDERBILT NOTES

Tavarus Hogans has caught a pass in 21 straight games.

Tavarus Hogans passed the 1,000 career yard receiving mark today with 178 yards on eight receptions.

Today's game is the first for nose tackle Ryan Aulds after serving a two-game suspension.

John Markham scored his 100th career point in today's game. Markham is 4-of-4 in field goals for the season and 3-of-4 from 41 yards or longer.

John Markham's 60-yard punt is a career long.

Halfback Todd Yoder caught his first pass this season in today's game.

Chris Zolman's 84-yard pass to Tavarus Hogans is the longest of his career and also the longest catch in Hogans' career.

OLE MISS NOTES

Senior captain Tim Strickland's string of 37 consecutive starts ended with today's game. He started his 37th game last weekend against Arkansas State. The string included starts in the 1997 Ford Motor City Bowl and 1998 Sanford Independence Bowl.

Romaro Miller recorded his ninth career 200-yard passing game today with 245 yards on 17-21 and two touchdowns.

Romaro Miller's 71-yard touchdown pass to Joe Gunn with 8:50 to go in the first quarter ties for the 16th longest pass in school history. In addition, it is Miller's second longest pass in his career. His previous best was a 77-yarder to Cory Peterson in the Memphis game (9-8-99) last year.

Joe Gunn's 71-yard touchdown reception from Quarterback Romaro Miller is the longest in his career. It breaks his previous best, a 34-yard reception in last week's game against Arkansas State.

Syniker Taylor's two interceptions marks his first career multiple interception game. He now has three career interceptions.

Wide receiver Grant Heard caught his first pass of the season. He missed the first two games due to injury.

Joe Gunn's 41-yard run near the end of the second quarter is the longest rush of his career.

Deuce McAllister scored his first touchdown of the season, a 46-yard run with 3:47 left in the game.

Cory Peterson's 40-yard touchdown reception with 6:07 left in the game, marks his 101st career reception. He becomes the seventh player to record 100 receptions in a career.

Since the SEC began divisional play in 1992, Ole Miss is now 11-11 versus the SEC Eastern Division. The Rebels are now 6-2 against the Commodores since divisional play started.

Since the formation of the SEC in 1933, Ole Miss is now 30-32-4 in conference openers. The Rebels have opened their SEC slate in Oxford 10 times now and have gone 5-5, including a 17-0 loss to Auburn last year.

Today's game marked the first time Ole Miss has played Vanderbilt in its SEC opener.

Today's loss marks the first time the Rebels have lost a game since 1989, when scoring 30 or more points.

Today is Ole Miss' first overtime loss in Oxford. They beat LSU 37-31 last year in Oxford and Central Florida 24-23 in 1997. Ole Miss is 3-2 all-time in overtime games. They lost to Alabama 20-17 last year in Tuscaloosa prior to today's loss.
