Ole Miss Moves On To Quarterfinals At SEC Indoor

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alex Hartman and Anders Stenman of the Ole Miss men's tennis team advanced to the quarterfinals of the SEC Indoor Championships Saturday at Hank Crisp Indoor Facility.
Hartman fought past Auburn's Stephen Huss in three sets in the round of 16, 4-6, 7-6(4), 6-3. The freshman took out Daniel Kiernan of LSU, 6-1, 6-1, earlier Saturday in the second round. Hartman meets up with top-seeded Marco Baron of Mississippi State, ranked seventh nationally, in the quarterfinals on Sunday.
Stenman advances after a third-round upset of fourth-seeded Peter Handoyo of Tennessee, 6-4, 7-6 (4). In the second round, Stenman dropped his first set but moved on, taking out Kentucky's Johan Hesoun, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3. He faces Vanderbilt's Andrew Nisker Sunday in the quarterfinals.
The Rebels' highest seed, James Shortall, knocked off LSU's Ajay Ramaswami, 6-1, 6-3, in the second round, but fell to Tennessee's Paul Podbury, 6-3, 6-4, in the round of 16. Senior Vikrant Chada battled for three sets but fell to Handoyo, 7-5, 2-6, 6-4, in the second round.
In doubles, the duo of Hartman and Stenman are in the round of 16, winning by default after Kiernan and Michal Chmela of LSU withdrew due to injury.
