Rebel Hartman Falls In SEC Indoor Championship Semifinal

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alexander Hartman of the No. 6 nationally-ranked Ole Miss men's tennis team advanced to the semifinals at the SEC Indoor Championships before losing in three sets to Vanderbilt's Andrew Nisker. Hartman upset the No.1 seed, Marco Baron of Mississippi State, in the quarterfinals.
Hartman, ranked No. 43 in the nation, rallied from a set down for a thrilling 3-6, 6-3, 7- 6(5) victory over Baron, the nation's seventh-ranked player. Baron is Mississippi State's No. 1 player. In the semis, Hartman won the first set over 47th-ranked Nisker, 7-5, but Nisker came back to win the second and third sets by the same score of 6-2, for the win.
Ole Miss was the only school to have more than one player reach the quarterfinals, as Anders Stenman and Kristofer Stahlberg joined Hartman in the final eight. Stenman lost to Nisker in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, while Stahlberg dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision to Paul Podbury of Tennessee.
In doubles, Ole Miss had two teams make the quarterfinals. James Shortall and Vikrant Chadha lost to Edo Bawano and Reven Stephens of Kentucky, 9-7. Hartman and Stenman were scheduled to play Brian Isern and Alfonso Perez of Alabama, but defaulted.
The SEC Indoor Championships features some of the nation's top players with nine of the league's teams currently ranked in the Top 25.
The Rebels return home to prepare for a top 10 matchup against Baylor Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Women's Sports Complex. Baylor is currently ranked No. 7 in the nation.

Doubles Quarterfinals - Edo Bawano-Reven Stephens (UA) def. James Shortall-Vikrant Chadha (OM) 9-7.
