Women's Tennis Hosts New Mexico

OXFORD, Miss. - Weather permitting, the No. 7 nationally-ranked Ole Miss women's tennis team will host 27th-ranked New Mexico Sunday at 11:00 a.m. at the Women's Sports Complex on the corner of Coliseum Drive and Hathorn Road.
The Lady Rebels come into the match with a 2-0 record and are coming off a 9-0 shutout over Stetson University last Saturday. In that match, the Lady Rebels lost only 10 games in singles in the entire match.
Freshmen Julie DeRoo and Mira Radu, both ranked in the top 30, will make their debut in front of the home crowd, Sunday. DeRoo finished the fall with a 13-3 record and is currently ranked No. 30 in the nation. Radu posted a 17-4 record last fall and is presently ranked No. 26.
"This is a big match for us," head coach Jerry Montgomery said. "New Mexico has a solid team. We would like to encourage all of our fans to come out and support us."
New Mexico enters the match with a 1-2 record. They are coming off a 9-0 shutout to 12th-ranked Arizona State. The Lady Lobos also dropped a 7-2 decision to Arizona in their season-opener. New Mexico defeated Kansas State 5-4 for their win.
The Lady Lobos are led by 44th-ranked Ana Friganovic, who owns an 11-2 overall record, 1-2 at No. 1 singles. Freshman Ashley Hedberg has a 12-7 overall record and senior Dominika Gerwin boasts a 11-6 record.
