Lady Rebel Volleyball Hits The Road

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss volleyball team will play two road matches this weekend as they travel to play SEC foes Arkansas and LSU. The Lady Rebels (10-9, 2-4) will ride their two-match win streak into Fayetteville, Ark., Friday night to play the Lady Razorbacks (5-9, 2-3) at 7 p.m. Ole Miss will then travel to Baton Rouge, La., to take on the Lady Tigers (7-8, 2-3) on Sunday, at 2 p.m.
Ole Miss has won their last two matches and four of their last six behind the leadership of seniors Kira Zschau and Renata Nowacki. Zschau, a senior, leads the Lady Rebels in both kills and digs through the first 19 matches. The Dunedin, Fla., native, has posted 254 kills and 188 digs. Nowacki, a setter, has recorded 779 assists and 174 digs.
Ole Miss has also had steady contributions from juniors Jaime Burns, Abby Hollander and Leigh Rittiner, and from sophomores Sarah Lansden and Erin Newsom.
Burns, who recently returned to the line-up full-time after nursing shin splints and tendonitis, is second in kills with 243 and leads the team in service aces with 21. Hollander, a middle blocker, is fourth on the team in kills with 110 and second on the team in total blocks with 68. Rittiner, a right-side hitter, is third on team in kills with 129 and third in total blocks with 66.
Newsom, a middle blocker, is leading the Lady Rebels in total blocks with 72 and has tallied 80 kills and 119 digs. Lansden, who missed three matches earlier in the season after being hospitalized with abdominal pain, has collected 110 digs.
After their weekend travels, the Lady Rebels will return to Oxford, to host Arkansas State, Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m.
