Ole Miss Volleyball Loses To LSU, 3-1

BATON ROUGE, La. - Despite a dominating performance in game one, the Ole Miss volleyball team lost to LSU, 4-15, 15-10, 15-10,15-7 Sunday afternoon. With the loss, Ole Miss drops to 10-11 overall and 2-6 in SEC play, while the Lady Tigers improve to 9-8 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
Ole Miss charged out to an early 1-0 lead after collecting a 15-4 win in game one. The Lady Rebels then faltered losing games two and three 15-10. Ole Miss then surrendered the match by dropping game four 15-7.
Despite the loss, outside hitters Jaime Burns and Kira Zschau continue to post big numbers for the Lady Rebels. Burns led Ole Miss in kills and digs against the Lady Tigers with 25 and 14 respectively. Zschau was right behind Burns with 21 kills and 12 digs.
Senior setter Renata Nowacki assisted on 57 kills and also had eight digs and a career-high five block assists. Sophomore Erin Newsome had seven kills, five digs and five blocks. SophomoreErica Tricco registered eight digs and junior Leigh Rittiner recorded eight kills.
LSU was led by Jennifer Hampton with 14 kills and 15 digs. Katie Kubena collected 51 assists for the Lady Tigers
Ole Miss will return to action Tuesday at 7 p.m., when they host Arkansas State at the Gillom Sports Center.
