Box Score

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss soccer team dropped its first home loss of the season Sunday, falling to 23rd-ranked Florida, 5-1, at Ole Miss Soccer Stadium. The Rebels drop to 11-4 overall, 4-2 in Southeastern Conference play.

The Gators (10-6, 6-0 SEC) scored off the opening kick as Abby Wambach headed in her 11th goal of the season 19 seconds in, with Erica Schubert earning the assist. Kara Rao put Florida ahead 2-0 in the 27th minute on a pass from Andi Sellers. Rao also picked up two assists before the half, on goals from Jill Stevens at 37:29 and Megan McMillan at 39:21.

UF's lone second half score came in the 61st minute when Angie Olson connected from 18 yards out. Danielle Murphy earned the assist. At the 78:05 mark, the Rebels broke the shutout when Anna Sanders scored her third goal of the weekend, from eight yards away off an Erin Cooper pass. It was Sanders' fifth goal of the season.

"We came out flat," said Ole Miss assistant coach Louis Richard. "We had to play from behind early, and we struggled with their speed in the first half.

"It was an even game in the second half. I think it showed we weren't intimidated and that we can play with the best in the conference."

Richard, who is in his first season with the Rebel staff, was the acting coach Sunday, after head coach Steve Holeman was forced to sit out after receiving a red card in Friday's win over South Carolina.

Ole Miss travels through the SEC East next weekend. The Rebels will be in Athens, Ga., Friday night for a 6:30 p.m. (CST) date with the Bulldogs. On Sunday, Ole Miss faces the Tennessee Volunteers at 1 p.m. in Knoxville.

The Rebels' game with Georgia will be televised regionally by Fox Sports Net South.
