KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Ole Miss soccer team fell to Tennessee Sunday, 3-0, at the Tennessee Soccer Complex. Despite the loss, the Rebels (12-5, 5-3 SEC) have already clinched a share of their second straight Southeastern Conference Western Division title when they defeated Georgia, 3-2, Friday night in Athens.
The Lady Vols (10-7, 6-2 SEC) opened scoring in the sixth minute on a 16-yard goal from Shayna Teutsch. The score remained 1-0 until the 65th minute when UT picked up two quick goals from Kelly Berrall, 43 seconds apart. Rhian Wilkinson assisted on all three Tennessee goals, tying a school record for assists in a game.
UT outshot Ole Miss 22-21 for the game. Rebel goalkeeper Melinda Smith collected nine saves on the day, tying her career high for single-game saves.
Ole Miss closes conference play against Mississippi State in Starkville Wednesday at 3 p.m. A Rebel win would secure the SEC West title outright. A loss would put Ole Miss at 5-4 in the conference and tie them with LSU, who has already finished SEC play, for the Western Division Championship.
