ARKANSAS STATE QUOTES

Head Coach Joe Hollis

(On Deuce McAllister and Joe Gunn)
"I hate to say this, but backs with their caliber are going to get those yards and those runs regardless. They create tremendous momentum for their other players. They are fine football players."

(On attempting the onside kick)
"I thought we could get the onside kick to create momentum. We had to have some things go our way in the kicking game. I don't know if that wasn't our football."

(On Ole Miss)
"You have to give Ole Miss credit. They executed their plan better than we did."

(On the third-down conversions)
"Ole Miss pressed us all over the field. They were going to press to prevent yardage on defense, and we also busted coverages ourselves when on defense, so the (third down) ratio probably wasn't very good. I was disappointed in our third down conversions."

(On team's effort)
"I feel our team gave a better effort. I feel better from that standpoint. Ole Miss didn't give us anything we didn't expect."

ARKANSAS STATE PLAYERS

ROBERT KILOW
"We made some good plays, but at the wrong time. They (Ole Miss) had a good scheme on defense, but I think we could have done a lot better. When we mixed up the run and pass, we moved the ball pretty good."

TRAVIS DUCKING
"The whole defense was trying to finish plays and make more plays. Their touchdown right before the half was quick and it hurt our momentum giving up seven points right before halftime. Play action killed us today."

SEGUN AJIGBEDA
"We expected Ole Miss to run the ball all the time with Deuce. Instead they passed a lot more than we thought they would. In this week's game we played with a lot more effort and intensity than we had in the previous game. We tried to focus on the smaller things this week and have a real team effort."

(On Ole Miss RB Deuce McAllister
"He's a good all-around athlete. He runs hard and plays hard. But, one good reason he does so well is because he has a good offensive line and fullback blocking for him."

OLE MISS HEAD FOOTBALL COACH DAVID CUTCLIFFE

Opening Comments
"I want to commend Joe Hollis, his staff and his team. They are a very well coached team. They play hard and they are better than their record indicates. Our team came ready to play. They set the tempo with enthusiasm and energy early in the game. We are a better football team now."

On the records set by Romaro Miller and Deuce McAllister
"I want to congratulate Romaro Miller and Deuce McAllister on the records that they set. I am proud for them and I am proud of them. They're both very special young men."

On the injuries
"We had some costly injuries today. It looks like Charlie Perkins and Augustus Carwell both suffered some knee injury. We had some other players that got pretty banged up today. We are going to have a full training room tomorrow."

OLE MISS PLAYER QUOTES

GRANT HEARD
"We came out clicking. Coach Cutcliffe said this was team week. Romaro made good reads and the receivers made good plays. Going in, we knew that they didn't pressure much at the line of scrimmage and the corners would play way off. That gave us the opportunity to run a lot of different things."

KEN LUCAS
(On defending Robert Kilow)
"Going into the game, all we heard about was Robert Kilow. We got tired of hearing about it. I made it a point to play my best against him, so he wouldn't have a game like he did against us last year. Week after week, our opponents don't give our secondary respect. We are just going to come out and play hard and try to earn that respect."

ROMARO MILLER
"I was pleased with the win and also pleased that we kept the momentum going from last week. Hopefully, we will carry this momentum into the Alabama game. The record is a great accomplishment, and it is a record that I will share with the great players who I've played with. I am thankful for the record, but now I am ready to move on."

(On the Alabama game)
"It's going to be a big game. Both teams are 2-1 in the conference, and neither team can afford a loss. It's going to be a hard fought game, and we will need to be ready for the challenge. We need to win SEC games no matter who it is."

DEUCE McALLISTER
"The only thing we need to do is keep better and the rest will take care of itself. We played well at times today. Overall, we executed pretty well."

(On the rushing record)
"I knew about the record going into the season, but I would much rather be a part of a SEC Western Division champion or national championship team. It's a great record, but winning a championship is something that each player on the team can have. It's a great honor, and I am going to get the entire offensive line to sign the ball. They were part of this record, and I am glad they were there for it."

(On the Alabama game)
"It's a pivotal game for us. We don't want to lose another SEC game or we are pretty much out of the SEC title race. We are going to have to be ready and stay focused this week. All we can do is try to steadily improve on offense, defense and special teams and see how much better we can get next Saturday."
