Ole Miss Volleyball Defeats Auburn, 3-1

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss Lady Rebel volleyball squad defeated Auburn, 15-3, 8-15, 15-11, 15-11, on Sunday to improve to 9-9 overall and 2-4 in SEC play, while the Tigers fall to 9-8 overall and 1-5 in conference action.
The Lady Rebels jumped out to an early 6-1 lead and never looked back in game one as they quickly defeated Auburn, 15-3. Game two was much the same, however the Tigers were the ones scoring all of the points. Auburn took game two, 15-8, before the Lady Rebels regrouped and knocked out the Tigers with consecutive 15-11 wins in game three and game four.
Junior outside hitter Jaime Burns collected 20 kills, nine digs and three service aces to lead the Lady Rebels against Auburn. Senior outside hitter Kira Zschau added14 kills and eight digs and freshman defensive specialist Jade Polonich recorded nine digs and one service ace.
Junior middle blocker Abby Hollander posted eight kills and nine blocks and junior right-side hitter Leigh Rittiner registered nine kills and three blocks. Senior setter Renata Nowacki collected 45 assists and a career-high four blocks.
Auburn was led by Jaunelle Hamilton and Crystal Bluth with 15 kills a piece and Meghan Keck with 50 assists.
Ole Miss will travel to Jackson, Miss., on Tuesday to play Southern Miss in a non-conference match at 7 p.m. at Pearl High School.
