LSU HEAD COACH NICK SABAN
(On the LSU win)
"We played better in the red area which was really important. It wasn't the best all-around win, but I was really proud of our players."
(On how Ole Miss played)
"Ole Miss played hard. They are well-coached . Their defense is a little undersized, but I have a lot of respect for their team. David (Cutcliffe) has done a great job."
(On how you contained Deuce McAllister)
"We played a lot of eight-man fronts. We were very physical on the line of scrimmage."
"Obviously, I am very proud of players for being able to come out on the road and get a road win, which we haven't done for a couple of years.
LSU PLAYERS
QB JOSH BOOTY
"We've had a hard time winning here so this is a good win. We probably should have put more points on the board. I want to credit our defense for playing so well."
WR JOSH REED
"I was looking forward to turning this team around. It feels good to accomplish so many goals."
OT LOUIS WILLIAMS
"This was a tremendous win for us. We got the job done. We kept plugging and they couldn't stop us. Finally, we got a road win."
OLE MISS HEAD COACH DAVID CUTCLIFFE
(Comments coming off the field)
"It was a hard-fought game. We missed too many opportunities tonight on offense. You can't win a game like this when you throw away that many chances. Give LSU a lot of credit. They established the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball."
(Opening comments -- press conference)
"Like I said earlier, it was a hard-fought football game. It was well played on both sides. We had missed opportunities on offense. They came up with some big plays. I want to congratulate LSU on a hard-fought victory. I'm proud of our kids for playing all four quarters. We have to pick ourselves up and get back to work Monday on the practice field because we have a tough challenge next Saturday against a great Georgia team."
(On offense, special teams)
"We didn't execute as well as we needed to. We were not able to score (touchdowns) in the red zone, but I do feel that we ran the ball well. We had obvious weaknesses tonight in the return, kicking and punting game."
(On defense)
"Our defense played hard. We came up with some big plays when we needed to. It takes a total team effort to win, so we will take this setback as a total team."
OLE MISS PLAYERS
QB ROMARO MILLER
"It just wasn't our day. We'll come into practice on Monday and keep fighting.
On the team's performance
"The team did good out there tonight, but obviously it wasn't our best showing. Everybody has bad games. We have to try and bounce back and get ready for Georgia next week."
FB CHARLES STACKHOUSE
"We came out, and our plan was to run the ball from the start and then mix in the pass a little. We started running outside and that wasn't too successful, so we started running inside. That went well. We had a couple of mistakes here and there and that cost us tonight. We felt like we were playing alright . Some things just weren't going our way. We tried our best tonight."
On his performance
"I think I played ok tonight, but I know I can get better. Obviously we didn't play well enough tonight to win the game. I try to go out and give 100 percent and help us get the win. I am just out there to do whatever the team needs me to do."
RB DEUCE McALLISTER
"I played as well as I could. When it was time to make plays, I don't think I did it enough to help us win tonight. It was a big disappointment for me and for the team, because the defense played so well tonight. The offense now has to go out and challenge itself to make plays no matter how difficult it may be. We never got into a groove on offense tonight. That was disappointing."
CHRIS COLLINS
On the punt block
"I was hoping that we could capitalize on a big play. I thought the punt block would help us gain momentum in the game. Everybody out there believed it and went out there and got it (blocked punt) done. We also should have capitalized on other opportunities that we had. We didn't do the small things tonight to win the game. LSU has a really good defense. We just have to try and get better Monday."
CB KEN LUCAS
"We wanted to come in and stop the running game. Our defensive line did a good job of doing that. LSU made some good throws and catches tonight and they made the plays. It seems like nothing could go right for us tonight similar to the Alabama game. We had the opportunity to win the game but we didn't make the plays we had to. We had the opportunity to go to a decent bowl. We have to come out and prepare for Georgia next week. We are going to try and fight as hard as we can at Athens and try to win. LSU did not do anything differently than what we saw on tape. They just made the plays when opportunities came."
