Starter Jeff McAvoy was credited with the win to improve his career record at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field to 9-2. He was 5-0 at home last sesaon.
With today's win, Ole Miss is now a perfect 12-0 in home openers since moving into Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field in 1989.
Today's win was also the Rebels' 19th straight season-opening, and home-opening win. The last time Ole Miss lost a season-opener or a home-opener was to Livingston in 1981 (8-6).
The 8-0 shutout was the Rebels' first season-opening shutout since blanking Tennessee-Martin 5-0 in Oxford to start the 1995 season.
