Oxford, Miss. - The Ole Miss softball team will host the Ole Miss Invitational this weekend featuring the Evansville Purple Aces and the Nicholls State Lady Colonels.
The Rebels will be looking for their first win of the season after going 0-5 at the Texas-Arlington Invitational last weekend.
Although Ole Miss failed to get a victory, the Rebels did get strong debut performances from freshmen pitchers Lindsay Price and Holly Burris.
Price, from Jackson, Miss., held 22nd-ranked Illinois-Chicago to two runs on eight hits with five strikeouts in a 2-0 loss in the first game of the season.
Burris, from Germantown, Tenn., allowed just two hits and retired the last 12 consecutive batters of the game against Texas-Arlington, but took the loss as UTA scored one run on two Rebel errors for a 1-0 victory.
"We're looking forward to the tournament this weekend," Ole Miss head coach Candi Letts said. "Holly and Lindsay played well and our defense was pretty steady. We've got two quality Division I teams coming this weekend and I think it will be a good challenge for our team."
