Freshman Mira Radu dominated Amy Trefethen 6-0, 6- 0 at No. 4 singles and senior Mariana Eberle blanked her opponent, Jill Buckley 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles. Alesya Ignatieva defeated Leigh Bradwell 7-6, 7-5 at No. 6 singles.
Kentucky's Carolina Mayorga upset Lady Rebel freshman Julie DeRoo, ranked No. 27 in the nation, 7-5, 6-3 at No.1 singles and Sarah Witten won in three sets over Ole Miss' Celeste Frey 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 for the Wildcats' only two singles wins.
The Wildcats' Mayorga and Witten, ranked No. 13 in the nation, downed DeRoo and Eberle 8-2 at No. 1 doubles and then Ivona Mihailova and Ignatieva cruised to an 8-2 win over Lauren Rookledge and Trefethen at No. 3 doubles to clinch the win.
"Our experience showed when the match got close," assistant coach Pat Breen said. "When crunch time hit, we won the big points. Our match against South Alabama helped us push through the tough situations in this match."
The Lady Rebels continue their four-match road swing as they travel to Arkansas Friday, March 3 for a 2:00 p.m. contest against the Lady Razorbacks.
