OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss softball team will begin the 2000 season at the University of Texas-Arlington/Isuzu Motors Invitational Friday, Feb. 11. The three-day tournament will conclude Sunday, Feb. 13.
The Rebels will play No. 22 Illinois-Chicago at 11:15 a.m., Baylor at 3:45 p.m. and host school Texas-Arlington at 6 p.m. in Friday's first round action.
The Rebels will be meeting Illinois-Chicago and Baylor for the first time in team history. Ole Miss is 1-0 all-time against Texas-Arlington, after taking a 2-1 decision in 1998.
This marks the third consecutive season the Rebels have participated in the UTA/Isuzu Motors Invitational. Ole Miss went 3-2 at the tournament last season, picking up wins over Stephen F. Austin, Northeast Louisiana and Texas Tech.
"We're looking forward to playing against some very good teams," Ole Miss head coach Candi Letts said. "This will be a good challenge for our team and we are looking forward to getting the season started."
Letts, in her second season as the Rebels head coach, guided Ole Miss to a 25-36 record last season.
