Ole Miss Continues Conference Action On The Road

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss softball team hits the road to take on the Georgia Bulldogs and 17th-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks this weekend.

Ole Miss (13-20, 1-3) is coming off a tough road trip against the Mississippi State Bulldogs last weekend. The Rebels went 1-3 against the 21st-ranked Bulldogs and lost two games by a combined three runs.

The Rebels prevented the four-game sweep by winning the last game of the series 6-0. Freshman pitcher Holly Burris held the Bulldogs to a season-low three hits in notching her third shutout of the season.

Ole Miss will open the weekend in Athens, against the Bulldogs. The Rebels are 2-4 all-time against Georgia, which enters the weekend with a 16-15 overall record and a 2-2 mark in the SEC. The first game against the Bulldogs is set for 4 p.m. on Friday, with game two scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.

The Gamecocks will host the Rebels on Saturday, with game one beginning at 1 p.m. and game two at 3 p.m.

South Carolina is ranked 17th in the nation with a 22-11 record and a 3-3 record in the SEC. The Gamecocks are 7-0 all-time against Ole Miss and have outscored the Rebels 37-7 with five shutouts in the series.
